Ingredients

  • 1 lb 450 g boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 large pita breads or flatbreads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato thinly sliced
  • 1/2 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, coriander, salt, and pepper to make a marinade.
  • Add the chicken slices to the marinade and toss until evenly coated. Let marinate 10 minutes if time allows, or cook immediately.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken slices and cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and lightly browned.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the garlic sauce by mixing Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Warm pita breads briefly in a dry pan or microwave to make them pliable.
  • To assemble, spread a spoonful of garlic sauce onto each pita. Add cooked chicken, then top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion.
  • Roll wraps tightly, cut in half if desired, and serve immediately.
